BDO Secures Record P132 Billion from ASEAN Sustainability Bonds
BDO Unibank has raised a record P132 billion from its ASEAN Sustainability Bonds issuance. The proceeds will fund eligible assets under its Sustainable Finance Framework and support future lending activities.
Sy-led BDO Unibank Inc. has generated a record P132 billion from its sixth peso-denominated ASEAN Sustainability Bonds issuance, with proceeds set to be used to finance assets and support its lending moving forward. In an emailed statement, BDO said the latest issue was oversubscribed by more than 26 times the P5-billion original offer. The bonds were listed on Tuesday, July 28, after the offer period was closed earlier than scheduled on July 10, 2026. “The issuance was supported by strong demand from both retail and institutional investors that also prompted the early closing of the offer period,” the lender said. BDO said net proceeds will be used to finance and refinance eligible assets under its Sustainable Finance Framework, support lending activities, and diversify its funding sources. The company reported a slight increase in its first-half net income to P40.7 billion from P40.6 billion, as net interest income climbed 11%. Total deposits expanded by 13%, while current and savings account (CASA) grew 4%. —VAL, GMA News
