LPA Off Palawan Moves West, Easing Rains in Affected Areas

MANILA, Philippines — Rains brought by a low pressure area (LPA) off Palawan are expected to ease as the weather disturbance moves westward toward the West Philippine Sea, the state weather bureau said Friday. The LPA, designated as 09e, was located over the coastal waters of Dumaran, Palawan, and was moving westward as of 5 a.m. The LPA had brought moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms over Palawan and the MIMAROPA region (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) for several days. However, as the LPA moves towards the West Philippine Sea, rainfall amounts in these areas are projected to gradually decrease. Philippine authorities continue to monitor the situation, focusing on potential impacts to infrastructure and ensuring the safety of residents, particularly in coastal areas where storm surges and flooding remain a concern.
