Kampong Chhnang Province: Over 1,200 Dengue Fever Cases, 4 Children Dead

The spread of dengue fever in Kampong Chhnang Province is causing significant concern, with a total of 1,269 cases reported as of this week, including the deaths of four children. This figure represents a notable increase compared to last year, when no dengue-related fatalities were recorded. Dr. Prak Von, Director of the Provincial Department of Health, stated on the morning of July 22nd that this year's dengue fever outbreak is more aggressive and has seen a sharp rise in cases, necessitating the participation of all parties to curb its spread. He emphasized that combating dengue fever cannot rely solely on the health sector but requires the involvement of guardians, local authorities, and all citizens in eliminating the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes, the vectors of the disease. Dr. Von urged the public to maintain hygiene around their homes, destroy stagnant water sources, place Abate larvicide in water storage containers, and implement mosquito spraying measures to reduce the risk of infection. Concurrently, the Provincial Department of Health's infectious disease control team is actively intervening in areas with high case numbers, conducting larvicide application, mosquito spraying, and disseminating preventive measures to the public.
