Cambodia's SDF Discusses Project Expansion with ADB and AFD
Cambodia's Skills Development Fund (SDF) held discussions with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the French Development Agency (AFD) regarding the achievements and future expansion of the 'Skills for the Future Economy' project. The initiative has trained a significant number of workers, particularly in the garment and footwear sectors, aiming for continued human capital development support.
The Skills Development Fund (SDF) of Cambodia held discussions with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the French Development Agency (AFD) on July 7th at the SDF headquarters to review the achievements and plan for the expansion of the 'Skills for the Future Economy' project. The SDF team, led by Executive Director H.E. Ki Sokkim, met with Mr. Mar Sophal, Representative of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and Mrs. Ouk Malika, Representative of the French Development Agency (AFD). The meeting aimed to set future work directions and examine the possibility of additional financial support for the continued development of human capital in Cambodia, building upon the positive outcomes of the project. H.E. Ki Sokkim, Executive Director of SDF under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, stated that as of June 2026, SDF's key achievements include the completion of the Skills Framework for the textile, garment, footwear, and travel goods sectors. A total of 12,380 workers and employees have been trained. Additionally, 46 training projects in other priority sectors have been supported, benefiting 7,765 trainees. Strategic cooperation with industry associations, the private sector, and training institutions has been strengthened to broaden the scope of skill development programs to better meet actual market demands. The Skills Development Fund (SDF) is committed to continuing close cooperation with ADB and AFD to strengthen and expand the scope of its priority sector training programs.
