Buildings without BCC to be reviewed for electricity access

Regarding the citizens residing in buildings that are unable to obtain permission to use electricity because they have not obtained a Building Completion Certificate (BCC) in Yangon City, the Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (YESC) and the Yangon City Development Committee will negotiate and proceed with re-examination and action on a case-by-case basis to provide electricity, said U Myo Myint Aung, the Minister for Urban Development of the Yangon Region Government. On the morning of June 15, on the third day of the second regular session of the third Yangon Region Hluttaw, U Min Thein Htun, a regional Hluttaw representative from constituency No. (1) of Lamadaw Township, asked a starred question, "How will the authorities proceed in accordance with the City Development Law to provide electricity to citizens residing in buildings that are unable to obtain permission to use electricity because they have not obtained a Building Completion Certificate (BCC) in Yangon City? " In response, Minister for Urban Development U Myo Myint Aung replied as follows. It is stated that the Yangon City Development Committee is carrying out the process of examining and issuing construction permits in accordance with the procedures for the construction of buildings within the city limits, and approving Building Completion Certificates (BBC). Furthermore, Minister for Urban Development U Myo Myint Aung explained that for buildings without permits, land ownership cannot be verified, and since they are built on land, which is an immovable asset, ownership issues may arise, making it impossible to issue construction permits and Building Completion Certificates (BCC).
