Poro Point Executive Missing in La Union; Search Underway
A director of the Poro Point Management Corp. has gone missing in La Union, Philippines, prompting an extensive police search. The executive's disappearance raises concerns given his role in managing a special economic zone.
Police have launched an intensive search for Nicky Oller, 59, a director of the Poro Point Management Corp. (PPMC), who went missing after leaving his home for a morning walk in Tubao town, La Union, on Friday. Oller reportedly left his residence in Barangay Poblacion at 5:30 a.m. and has not returned. The PPMC is a government-owned and controlled corporation responsible for managing the Poro Point Special Economic and Freeport Zone, making Oller's role significant. Authorities received the report through the 911 Emergency Hotline at 8:37 a.m. on Friday and immediately initiated search operations. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage along Oller's potential routes. Oller was last seen wearing a green-and-black hooded jacket, jogging pants, and white shoes. He has a background in public service, having served as a municipal councilor in Tubao from 2001-2010 and 2013-2019. He was appointed PPMC director in 2021 and was slated to become chairman of the board on October 13, 2025. His disappearance raises concerns about public safety and security in the region, particularly for individuals in public office. The stability of the special economic zone's management could be impacted by this event.
