Cambodia Boosts Domestic Employment with 1,300 Job Opportunities and VET Programs

The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training continued to expand domestic job opportunities by organizing a 'Job, Social Security, and Vocational Training Forum' at the Trapeang Prasart Commune Hall, Trapeang Prasart District, Udon Thani Province. The event, held on Friday morning, August 7, 2026, brought 1,300 job openings from enterprises, companies, and factories to citizens, former migrant workers returning from Thailand, and over 600 youths. The aim is to promote domestic employment, strengthen understanding of social security, and disseminate vocational training opportunities. Speaking at the forum, H.E. San Kimhong, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, appealed to citizens to seize domestic job opportunities, noting that there is currently a demand for over 90,000 workers in major enterprises, companies, factories, and special economic zones across the country. He emphasized that working legally within the country provides numerous benefits from the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), including occupational risk benefits, health care benefits, and retirement benefits, offering protection comparable to civil servants. H.E. Kimhong also reminded citizens to avoid illegal migration, which can lead to exploitation and lack of legal protection. He stated that working domestically not only provides a stable income but also allows individuals to live with their families. For those intending to work abroad, he advised choosing companies with legal licenses, verifying information with relevant authorities, or contacting Hotline 1297 for employment matching and 1286 for NSSF services. Furthermore, he encouraged youth to pursue technical and vocational training at the Udon Thani Provincial Vocational Training Center through the 'TVET 1.5 Million' program, a free national training initiative that also provides monthly stipends. This program offers training in various skills such as air conditioning repair, electricity, construction, coffee services, salons, makeup, and others, along with Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to enhance job prospects and fair wages. The job forum saw the participation of major enterprises and factories, including Ventura Leader Wear (CD) Co., Ltd., Tainting Siem Reap Rubber Development Co., Ltd., Excel Excel Sing Sing Co., Ltd., and Excel Asia Human Resources, which offered 1,300 job opportunities. In addition to direct recruitment, these companies provided information, employment matching services, and consultations to job seekers to meet current labor market demands.
