Vietnam Vows to Preserve Mother Tongue, Strengthen Overseas Community Ties

In the new context, Politburo Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW, dated August 2, 2026, continues to place the preservation of the Vietnamese language within the strategic vision of mobilising resources from the Vietnamese community abroad and promoting Vietnamese cultural values around the world. On the occasion of the Day honouring Vietnamese language, Nguyen Thi Lien Huong urged families and young Vietnamese abroad to make language preservation part of everyday life, with parents and grandparents maintaining the habit of speaking Vietnamese with children. For Vietnamese communities overseas, Vietnamese is not merely a means of communication but also an important part of cultural identity and a bond connecting people with their homeland. For foreigners who have developed an affection for Vietnam, learning the language opens another door to a deeper understanding of the country's culture, history and people. The resolution shifts the Party's approach from "pooling, gathering and caring for" OV to "accompanying them and creating mechanisms", opening the door to deeper engagement in national development. Politburo Resolution No. 23 calls for stronger links among overseas Vietnamese through sustainable networks connecting experts, intellectuals, entrepreneurs and young people. Each entrepreneur and professional can thus become a bridge, ensuring that despite being half a world away, the Vietnamese community remains closely connected to the homeland. As Vietnam enters a new development phase, with a target of double-digit growth and strategic milestones in 2030 and 2045, National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man called on BRG Group and SeABank to build on their established foundations and effectively implement major Party, National Assembly and Government policies on socio-economic development. From a weekend support activity, the “Zero-dong stall” has grown into a widely recognised community initiative, helping ease living costs while fostering solidarity and compassion among local residents.
