Phnom Penh Hosts Wat Phnom Fair Showcasing Khmer Cultural Richness

Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng stated that the "Wat Phnom Fair," held on the evening of September 23, 2026, at the Wat Phnom Historical and Cultural Site, provided an opportunity for international tourists to gain a clearer understanding of the richness of Khmer culture, civilization, and traditions. The festival, organized by the Ministry of Tourism and G Adventures, was attended by approximately 700 national and international guests, including Hout Hak, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Tourism. According to Governor Khuong Sreng, the Wat Phnom Fair is one of many programs within the GX Summit, a global tourism event that welcomes numerous international tourists to Cambodia. The fair showcases Cambodia's diverse culture through various displays, including traditional games, classical art performances, Romvong (traditional dance), and tasting a variety of Cambodian cuisines. The governor noted that after the hardships of the Pol Pot regime, Cambodia has developed significantly since the liberation on January 7, 1979, under the leadership of former Prime Minister Hun Sen's "Win-Win" policy, becoming a safe nation that attracts many tourists. He added that the tourism visits organized by G Adventures at Wat Phnom will further elevate the tourism sector and continue to attract more visitors to Cambodia. Minister of Tourism Hout Hak expressed gratitude to Mr. Bruce Poon Tip, founder of G Adventures, and his colleagues for their confidence and correct decision in choosing the Kingdom of Cambodia as the venue for the important GX Summit of tourism operators in 2026. The minister emphasized that based on a strong foundation of peace, political stability, security, and good public order, Cambodia is a safe, warm, and hospitable destination awaiting national and international tourists from all over the world. Beyond the wonders of Angkor Wat and other ancient sites in Siem Reap, Cambodia offers visitors "Beyond the temple" with special tourist experiences, the friendliness and sincerity of its people, recognized globally as the "Khmer smile," a rich and delicious cuisine, and long-standing arts, culture, and traditions, all of which are the essence of Khmer identity and embody exceptional authenticity. The fair featured traditional games, classical art performances, traditional Khmer attire, Romvong, and Cambodian food tasting, among other activities.
