Cambodian Parliament to Host 6th Cambodia-EU Interparliamentary Meeting

Phnom Penh – On Thursday afternoon, September 10, 2026, Mr. Suos Yara, Chairman of the National Assembly's Commission for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Information, held a working meeting with H.E. Igor Driesmans, Ambassador of the European Union to the Kingdom of Cambodia. The discussion focused on strengthening and promoting relations and cooperation between Cambodia and the European Union. During the meeting, both sides discussed cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, economic and social development, people-to-people exchanges, security, and combating online crime, as well as significant regional and international challenges. H.E. Igor Driesmans highly praised the outcomes of the 5th Cambodia-EU Interparliamentary Meeting (5th IPM), held in Strasbourg, France, in April 2026, considering it a testament to the progress of parliamentary diplomacy between Cambodia and the EU. The two parties also discussed preparations for the upcoming 6th Cambodia-EU Interparliamentary Meeting, which the Cambodian National Assembly will host. This meeting signifies the ongoing dialogue and deepening cooperation between Cambodia and the EU. Parliamentary exchanges, in particular, serve as a crucial platform for enhancing mutual understanding and addressing common issues between the two regions.
