Lao and Vietnamese Party Journals Deepen Cooperation

The Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee's Propaganda and Training Committee and the Vietnamese Communist Party's journal, Cong San, agreed to further deepen cooperation between the two party journals during a meeting held in Vientiane on July 27, 2026. The meeting was attended by Khammone Chanthachit, Deputy Head of the Lao committee, and Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Cong San, along with officials from both publications. Hinphet Xayasiphandone, Acting Editor-in-Chief of Laos' Alounmay Magazine, also participated. Mr. Khammone stated that both journals play a crucial role in researching and disseminating Party policies while safeguarding Party ideology. Since signing a cooperation memorandum in 2022 for the 2023–2027 period, the two publications have exchanged over 30 articles, conducted staff training, and collaborated on website development and digital publishing. Cong San has also provided technical support and equipment to enhance Alounmay's publishing capacity. Looking ahead, both sides agreed to deepen cooperation by preparing a new memorandum of understanding in 2027, expanding delegation exchanges, strengthening professional training, and undertaking joint theoretical and practical research projects. Mr. Khammone also proposed establishing a direct technical coordination mechanism to facilitate faster information exchange and closer editorial collaboration between the two Party journals. This cooperation highlights the importance of Party ideology dissemination and policy promotion within Laos' one-party system. The relationship with Vietnam is particularly significant, reflecting the continuation of Laos' traditionally strong ties with its neighbor and aiming to strengthen party organization through information sharing. While this cooperation among party journals may not yield immediate direct economic benefits, it can indirectly contribute to economic development by fostering policy implementation and national consensus.
