Aries, the drummer of popular Indonesian rock band Garasi, has passed away at the age of 42. His music career began before the band, with an award at a local drumming competition, and he rose to fame with the film 'Garasi'. He contributed to the band's success and also worked as a songwriter.
A shadow has fallen over Indonesia's music scene with the passing of Aries, the drummer for the popular rock band Garasi, at the age of 42. His untimely death has sent waves of grief through his bandmates Ayu Ratna, Fedi Nuril, and Wembri Arlistha, as well as the wider music community. Born on March 31, 1982, in Sukabumi, West Java, Aries was deeply immersed in music long before achieving fame with Garasi. His talent was recognized early on, earning him the "The Best Drummer" award at a Sukabumi regency-level competition in 2001. He also served as an additional player for the band Omelette and participated in numerous music festivals across the archipelago. Aries's name became widely known when he joined the band formed around the film of the same title, "Garasi." The band gained popularity thanks to the film directed by Agung Sentausa and produced by Mira Lesmana. Notably, Aries was nominated for Best Actor at the Indonesian Film Festival in 2006 for his role in the film. Beyond his drumming prowess, he also showcased his songwriting abilities, contributing to Garasi's albums "Garasi" (2006), "Garasi" (2008), and "Kembali" (2011). Throughout the band's career, Garasi experienced several lineup changes, but Aries remained a pivotal member. Even after Ayu Ratna departed in 2011, Aries and Fedi Nuril continued the journey of Garasi. The news of his passing was shared via Aries's personal Instagram account. Aries was laid to rest today at 07:00 AM Western Indonesian Time at the TPU Depok Cemetery in Cisarua Village, Nagrak District, Sukabumi, West Java.
