Senior Minister Say Chhum has expressed his profound condolences to Dr. Ieng Sophalleth and his family on the passing of his mother, Ung Sophat, who died at the age of 93. Ung Sophat passed away on September 16, 2026, at 6:43 PM in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, due to old age. During this somber time, Senior Minister Say Chhum conveyed his deepest sorrow and regret over the loss of Ung Sophat, who was described as a beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was credited with dedicating her physical and mental strength to raising and educating her children and grandchildren to become valuable members of society.
