Vietnam Boosts Digital Capabilities for UN Peacekeepers

Vietnam is expanding cooperation with international organizations, troop-contributing country partners, and development partners to strengthen its digital capabilities for United Nations peacekeeping operations. This initiative focuses on training, knowledge sharing, innovation, and force development, aiming to promote science, technology, and digital transformation in personnel preparation. In recent years, Vietnam has increased its contributions to peacekeeping operations, achieving notable successes such as the deployment of its Level-2 Field Hospital and the appointment of the first Vietnamese officer to a senior position in a UN peacekeeping mission. These activities demonstrate Vietnam's commitment and capacity to fulfill its international responsibilities. The enhancement of digital capabilities reflects the growing importance of information technology in modern peacekeeping. Rapid and accurate information gathering, analysis, and communication in conflict zones are crucial for operational success. Through international cooperation in these areas, Vietnam aims to improve its peacekeeping units' capabilities while contributing to global peace and stability. Under its one-party system, Vietnam's decision-making is led by the Communist Party Central Committee and the government. Active participation in peacekeeping aligns with its foreign policy principle of "multilateral and multidirectional diplomacy," serving as a key means to gain international trust. Furthermore, amidst its complex relationship with China, Vietnam seeks to maintain geopolitical balance by strengthening ties with the international community. This can be seen as part of Vietnam's strategy to expand its influence on the global stage alongside its economic growth.
