Expired Goods Found in Kampong Cham Market, Authorities Reinforce Consumer Protection

Authorities in Prek Prosop district, Kratie province, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Consumer Protection, Competition, and Anti-Fraud (CCF) and the Kratie Provincial Department of Commerce, conducted an inspection on August 6, 2026, at Kampeng Market in Kampeng village, Prek Prosop commune, Prek Prosop district, to examine product quality and safety. According to Mr. Sao Kemra, Deputy Governor of Prek Prosop district, the inspection team did not find any notable products or chemical substances that would harm consumer health. However, a number of expired goods, such as packaged milk, were discovered. The team subsequently instructed all vendors with expired products to dispose of them and strictly cease selling them in the market. Furthermore, technical officials advised all vendors at Kampeng Market in Prek Prosop district to carefully check product labels and expiry dates before purchasing, selling, or distributing them to consumers. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts by Cambodian authorities to safeguard consumer welfare and ensure the integrity of goods available in local markets, particularly in the context of increasing trade and economic activity.
