Banteay Meanchey Governor Oum Ratry has instructed residents of Rong Cham village to prepare homestay facilities to accommodate tourists seeking short-term stays. The governor emphasized that this initiative not only allows residents to receive attention from the provincial administration but also provides an opportunity to increase their income. According to Kampuchea Thmey Daily, Oum Ratry stated that preparing homestays does not necessarily require significant capital investment or complex business operations. Residents can start by utilizing their existing capabilities, ensuring a decent, hygienic, safe, and pleasant environment to serve visitors who wish to stay in the area. The governor further added that organizing homestays can bring numerous benefits to the Rong Cham village community. This includes stimulating demand for services, local products, food, and other services, thereby creating income opportunities for other families as well. "This perspective also shows the attention of the provincial administration in encouraging citizens to be self-reliant by using existing resources and capabilities. Instead of relying solely on aid, creating small, sustainable businesses is a foundation to help families earn income and be in charge of their own livelihoods," he said.
