Cambodia and Singapore to Sign 5-Year Cooperation Agreement on Social Development
Cambodia's Minister of Social Affairs met with the Singaporean Ambassador to discuss a 5-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on social development, social assistance, persons with disabilities, family, and child protection. Gratitude was expressed for Singapore's support.
H.E. Chea Somethy, Minister of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, met with Mr. Steven Pang Chee Wee, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Cambodia, and his colleagues for a courtesy call and working discussion on July 14, 2026, at the Ministry's headquarters. During the meeting, discussions focused on cooperation related to the Ministry's work, particularly the preparation for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Singapore Ministry of Social and Family Development and the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation of the Kingdom of Cambodia. This MOU aims to promote and strengthen cooperation in social development, social assistance, persons with disabilities, family affairs, and child protection for a period of five years, starting from 2026. Chea Somethy expressed his profound gratitude to the Government of Singapore for its excellent cooperation and support for the Royal Government of Cambodia, both generally and specifically, in the development of the social affairs sector in Cambodia.
