Northern Vietnam Integrates First BESS into 110kV Grid for Power Stability

Northern Vietnam Power Corporation (EVNNPC) announced the successful completion and commissioning of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the Song Khe 110kV substation (E7.12) in Bac Ninh province. This integration marks the first time advanced BESS technology has been directly incorporated into the 110kV grid managed by EVNNPC, representing a significant step in modernizing Vietnam's power infrastructure. The deployment of this BESS is expected to contribute to the reduction of power loss. EVNNPC has been focusing on reducing energy loss through the application of digital technologies in recent years, and this BESS integration is seen as part of that effort. With Vietnam's rapid economic growth, power demand continues to rise, placing significant pressure on supply, especially during summer months. EVNNPC faces the urgent task of ensuring safe and stable electricity supply to meet this growing demand. BESS can help alleviate the load on the transmission grid by supplying stored power during peak demand periods, thereby stabilizing electricity supply.
