GSIS, Maxicare Launch Zero-Interest HMO Financing for Government Employees

MANILA, Philippines — The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) partnered with Maxicare Healthcare Corporation to launch a financing program that makes health and hospitalization insurance more affordable for government employees. In a statement on Tuesday, GSIS said it signed an agreement with Maxicare to roll out G-HEALTH, initially covering 214,000 members. READ: Philippine HMOs post 41% net income jump in Q1 The program will allow eligible members to finance their health insurance premiums through a zero-interest loan payable over 12 months. Through the GSIS Touch mobile application, members will be able to browse, compare, and enroll in health insurance packages offered by accredited Health Insurance Providers (HIPs). Under the partnership, GSIS will serve as the program administrator and financing intermediary, while HIPs will provide medical services, process claims, and administer members’ benefits. Through G-HEALTH, we are making health insurance more affordable by allowing members to pay for their HMO coverage over time without interest, while maximizing the value of their Medical Allowance,” GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said.
