Drug Smugglers Caught After Police Chase and Crash in Songkhla

In Songkhla province, southern Thailand, two individuals were arrested after their drug-laden car crashed into a traffic light during a police chase. Local media reported that the incident occurred at an intersection near the Songkhla Provincial Hall. Police officers spotted a suspicious vehicle and attempted to stop it. However, the driver fled, leading to a pursuit. The vehicle eventually lost control and collided with a traffic signal at an intersection. Following the crash, a significant quantity of drugs was discovered inside the car. Seized items included approximately 500,000 methamphetamine pills and a large amount of crystal methamphetamine (ice). The arrested individuals are suspected of attempting to smuggle these narcotics into the province. This incident highlights the persistent issue of drug smuggling in southern Thailand. Songkhla province, being close to the Malaysian border, is often utilized as a transit route for illicit substances.
