Australia Education Fair Boosts Cambodia's Development and Talent

The 'Study in Australia Fair 2026' has opened in Phnom Penh, strengthening Cambodia-Australia educational ties. The Australian Ambassador highlighted how world-class education for Cambodian students cultivates talent crucial for the nation's economic development.

The Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, His Excellency Derek Yip, and Mr. Sreng Mao, Chairman of the Board and Country Director of ACE and IDP Education (Cambodia), presided over the official opening of the Study in Australia Fair 2026, reaffirming the strong and enduring education partnership between Australia and Cambodia. The Fair highlights the vital role of international education in strengthening people-to-people connections, developing future-ready skills, and creating pathways for Cambodian students to access world-class learning opportunities that support personal growth and contribute to Cambodia’s long-term development. Hosted by IDP Education with the support of the Australian Embassy in Cambodia, the Study in Australia Fair 2026 is being held at the Koh Pich Exhibition Centre (Halls A & B), Phnom Penh, today, July 11, before continuing at Sokha Angkor Resort, Siem Reap, on July 12. As Cambodia advances towards a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy, access to internationally recognised education and globally relevant skills is increasingly important in preparing young people to contribute to economic growth, industry development and national progress. Ambassador Yip spoke of Australia’s role as a trusted education partner for Cambodia and the destination of choice for Cambodian students studying overseas. “Australia’s world-class universities have delivered outstanding outcomes for Cambodian graduates for decades, with many returning to Cambodia to become government leaders, entrepreneurs and change-makers,” he said. “In addition to educational excellence, Australia’s close proximity to Cambodia and its vibrant cities and welcoming communities make it a natural choice for Cambodian students seeking a world-leading international education. We’re proud to support initiatives like the Study in Australia Fair to showcase the best of Australian education,” he added. A key feature of the Fair is the opportunity for students and families to engage directly with representatives from leading Australian institutions, as well as Australia Awards scholars, graduates, and alumni who share firsthand experiences of studying, living and building careers in Australia. Graduates from Australian universities are able to remain connected to Australia and benefit from ongoing professional development opportunities through initiatives such as the Australian Alumni Association of Cambodia (AAA-C). Established by the Australian Government in 1969, IDP connects students to more than 1,300 world-class institutions globally, including over 270 Australian institutions, helping students identify suitable study pathways and make informed decisions about their future. Celebrating 34 years of impact and surpassing one million learners and alumni, ACE, part of IDP, reflects a longstanding commitment to empowering generations of students with the confidence, skills, and capabilities needed to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world. ACE Country Director Mao highlighted the transformative impact of international education: “International education provides students with more than academic qualifications — it builds confidence, leadership capability and global networks that enable them to create meaningful impact,” he said. “Through the Study in Australia Fair, we bring together world-class institutions, scholarship opportunities, alumni experiences and expert guidance to help students and families explore the right pathways with confidence,” he continued. Students and families are invited to join the Study in Australia Fair 2026 with free entry to explore study opportunities and receive expert guidance. Complimentary counselling is also available with IDP Education experts at any of ACE’s six campuses in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
