Nghe An Province to Provide Free Textbooks to Over 200,000 Students This New School Year

The Department of Education and Training of Nghe An Province in central Vietnam announced that it has completed a survey of textbook usage needs from over 1,000 schools across the province for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. The survey revealed that tens of thousands of students will be prioritized for borrowing and using textbooks. This initiative reflects the Communist Party of Vietnam's emphasis on educational investment and its policy of aiming for universal education. Under Vietnam's one-party system, access to education is considered a foundation for social stability and economic growth, and the government continuously implements measures to reduce textbook costs. Nghe An Province is one of the economically developing regions in Vietnam, and such support measures are a crucial step towards narrowing the educational gap between rural and urban areas, ensuring that all children have equal learning opportunities. Free textbook provision is expected not only to alleviate the financial burden on families but also to boost learning motivation.
