Vietnam Navy Engages in Active International Exchanges to Bolster Maritime Cooperation

Vietnam's navy is actively engaging in international exchanges and cooperation to bolster defense ties and foster friendly relations. Recently, Frigate 015 Tran Hung Dao participated in exchange activities with the Philippine Navy. During this visit, officers and sailors from both navies toured each other's vessels, shared experiences in training and long-duration deployments at sea, and engaged in sports exchanges. The Vietnamese delegation also hosted a banquet aboard Frigate 015 for senior officers and sailors of the host navy. Furthermore, Frigate 015 engaged with the Republic of Korea Navy's destroyer Munmu the Great, sharing experiences in training and long-duration deployments. Before setting sail for the Republic of Korea, the vessel conducted joint maneuvering and at-sea communications exercises with Japan's JS Yamagiri. These activities are part of Vietnam's broader efforts to enhance international cooperation, particularly in maritime security. Vietnam, with its strategic location, rapid economic growth, and extensive global integration, serves as a bridge between mainland and maritime Southeast Asia. In a related development, the HMCS Charlottetown of the Royal Canadian Navy arrived at Tien Sa Port in Da Nang city, initiating a series of exchange activities aimed at strengthening the Vietnam–Canada Comprehensive Partnership. These exchanges are expected to promote the implementation of bilateral defense cooperation agreements and deepen relations between the two countries. Vietnam is also deepening its naval exchanges with Russia as part of ongoing defense cooperation agreements. This initiative aims to build upon the outcomes of the Vietnamese Minister of National Defence's visit to Russia and further strengthen the longstanding friendship and naval collaboration between the two nations. Under its one-party system, Vietnam continues to pursue economic growth while diversifying its international relations. In its relationship with China, which involves complex aspects such as maritime security and economic cooperation, Vietnam strives to protect its national interests while playing a leading role within ASEAN. The recent surge in naval activities signifies Vietnam's commitment to establishing its position as a responsible player in the regional and international arena.
