Cambodia Reviews Progress of ADB-Funded Modernized Irrigation System

On the morning of Tuesday, the 11th waning day of the month of Ashar, in the year of the Monkey, the 8th year of the Buddhist Era 2570, corresponding to September 8, 2026, His Excellency Chan Sinat, Secretary of State and Project Director, representing His Excellency Thor Cheaththa, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, led a working group mission from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to inspect the progress of the modernized Stung Chinit Irrigation System in the Tang Kok district of Kampong Thom province, under the financing of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The mission was attended by the ADB delegation led by Mr. Long Pisith, along with technical officials, national technical advisors, representatives from the Department of Water Resources and Meteorology of Kampong Thom province, the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, water user communities, and local authorities. During the occasion, His Excellency the Secretary of State emphasized that the Stung Chinit Irrigation System Modernization Project was constructed with the aim of increasing the efficiency of agricultural irrigation and mitigating floodwaters during the rainy season, in response to climate change. Concurrently, the delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) highly praised and expressed satisfaction with the fruitful results of the mission and the work progress achieved, which will significantly contribute to improving the livelihoods and providing numerous benefits to the farmers in the region.
