East Jakarta Police Arrest Five in Armed Brawl, Boost Patrols

Five young individuals were arrested by police on Sunday morning after being involved in an armed brawl on Jalan Cipinang Muara, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta (Jaktim). The incident occurred around 03:45 WIB. According to Dansat Brimob Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol. Henik Maryanto, officers on patrol swiftly dispersed the brawl and apprehended five suspects who were attempting to flee. "Officers moved quickly to disperse the brawl and secure five young people suspected of being involved in the clash," Henik said when confirmed in Jakarta, Sunday. Evidence seized from the perpetrators includes two machetes, one samurai blade, one corbek, a ladle suspected of being used to carry dangerous liquids, and three motorcycles. "All the perpetrators and the evidence were then taken to the East Jakarta Metro Police to undergo further legal proceedings," said Henik. He emphasized that routine patrols at vulnerable hours would continue to be carried out to prevent crime, such as fights that disturbed the community. According to him, the presence of Brimob personnel in the field is a form of the commitment of the National Police in providing protection to the community and creating a sense of security in every region. "We continue to increase preventive patrols and take firm action against any actions that have the potential to disrupt public security. Synergy with all police functions continues to be strengthened so that the potential for kamtibmas disruption can be prevented as early as possible before causing casualties," said Henik. His party also invites the public to play an active role in maintaining environmental security by immediately reporting if they find indications of fights, possession of sharp weapons, or other criminal acts through the 110 police service or to the nearest police officer.
