Cambodia Strengthens Local Governance and Promotes 'One Village, One Product' for Better Livelihoods
Dr. Ouk Rabun met with local administrative council officials in Kampong Chhnang province, urging the strengthening of local governance and the promotion of the 'One Village, One Product' initiative to improve administrative efficiency and resident welfare. This is part of the government's efforts to revitalize local economies and enhance the quality of life for citizens.
In Kampong Chhnang Province, Dr. Ouk Rabun, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Head of the Government Working Group, met with members of the local administrative council, executive committees, the three armed forces, and administrative police posts in Roleapier District on September 4, 2026. The meeting was attended by Mr. Siv Run, Chairman of the Provincial Council, Mr. Chim Vutha, Deputy Provincial Governor, district and city governors, and many residents. During the occasion, Dr. Rabun highlighted the purpose of reviewing, discussing, and approving the summary progress report of the executive committees of the municipal, district, commune, and village councils. He also emphasized the establishment of an organization to represent and protect the common interests of these councils within the province, aiming to improve the quality of life and well-being of the people through decentralized and deconcentrated governance, as well as enhance the efficiency of service delivery to residents at the local level through capacity development. Furthermore, Dr. Rabun urged the executive committees and councils to effectively perform their roles in public service delivery, local development, and maintaining security and order for the benefit of all citizens, without political bias. He stated that collective voices in local development are key to boosting the local economy. Dr. Rabun also emphasized the role of the councils in further activating the 'One Village, One Product' movement. He encouraged citizens to strive to produce, process, and utilize local potential to the fullest and sustainably, thereby creating a diverse range of competitive products that can outperform foreign goods. The National Committee, through coordination with relevant ministries, development partners, and the private sector, is working to promote the 'One Village, One Product' movement to support Cambodian products and achieve national vision and policy objectives.
