The Veterans and Returnees Association of Cambodia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Veterans and Returnees Association of China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The agreement aims to deepen business cooperation, attract investment, and enhance the development of the veterans' sector in both countries. The signing ceremony took place on July 23, 2026, at a hotel in Phnom Penh. Representing Mr. Hun Sen, President of the Senate and President of the Veterans and Returnees Association, was Mr. Kun Kim, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Association. Mr. Mam Vandy, Vice President of the Cambodian association, stated that the MoU is expected to facilitate mutual support, including attracting investment from China to Cambodia and vice versa, as well as developing businesses in agriculture and industry. A planned visit on July 24 to agricultural bases, special economic zones, industrial parks, and the Bun Rany Hun Sen Veterans Village is intended to allow the Chinese delegation to directly observe areas with investment potential and gain a clearer understanding of possible investment opportunities. The Chinese delegation, comprising 74 entrepreneurs and investors from various regions of China including Guangxi, Guangdong, Sichuan, Fujian, Beijing, Chongqing, and Hong Kong, visited Cambodia from July 22 to 24, 2026. Led by Mr. Qi Fang, Chairman of the delegation and a council member of GIFA (Global Investment and Financial Alliance), the group covers a wide range of sectors such as energy and renewable energy, new energy vehicles and manufacturing, agriculture and agro-processing, health and medical technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology, industrial manufacturing, infrastructure construction, architectural design, cross-border e-commerce, modern logistics and supply chains, tourism and hospitality, and financial and professional services. This large-scale visit by Chinese investors signals strong interest in expanding investment across Cambodia's diverse industrial landscape.
