AYEYARWADDY TIMES July 27 In Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, the Arakan Army (AA) is continuing its mine clearance operations, and it has been learned that 67 landmines planted by the military and extremist armed groups were discovered and cleared in a single day on July 25. The AA conducted mine clearance along the village-to-village roads connecting villages such as Zula, Horitala, Italiya, and Zantila in Maungdaw Township from 7 AM to 1 PM on July 25. During this clearance, 67 M-14 landmines were discovered and successfully cleared. "Mine clearance is truly needed. During floods, landmines and unexploded ordnance are washed away or displaced, posing a danger to the public," a local source told the Irrawaddy Times. On July 4, the AA also cleared 35 M-14 landmines planted by the military and extremist groups such as ARSA and RSO in Maungdaw Township. Currently, the AA is continuing to clear landmines and unexploded ordnance previously planted by the military and extremist groups along the routes used by local residents and in the mountainous areas within Maungdaw District. Furthermore, it has been learned from APM that the Arakan People's Revolutionary Government is also increasing its efforts across the entire state to ensure that the public is free from the dangers of mines and unexploded ordnance by conducting mine risk awareness talks, erecting warning signs, and distributing educational leaflets.
