The Tatmadaw will be organized and built as a Standard Army, and the People's Military Service Law will continue to be implemented, said President U Min Aung Hlaing. The President made the remarks in his government's 100-day policy speech delivered at the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw today (July 31). "Regarding national defense, the Tatmadaw will be organized and built as a modern army (Standard Army) with combat capability and strength. To obtain the necessary resources for this combat capability, our government will formulate policies and continue to provide them. In accordance with Article 340 of the Constitution, the People's Army strategy must be implemented under the leadership of the Tatmadaw for the entire population to participate in national security and defense. To achieve respectable defense and security capabilities for the nation, the People's Military Service Law, which came into effect and was enforced on February 10, 2024, will continue to be implemented and observed. To become an army with combat capability, the Tatmadaw must constantly strive and train in accordance with the process of learning, training, and obeying," the President said. Furthermore, he stated that although the Myanmar Police Force is responsible for domestic security, the Tatmadaw is cooperating with the police force to address and resolve the situation due to the country's current circumstances. He explained that there are two types of police: the police force that maintains territory and the police force that maintains law and order (law force police). He added that training will be provided to further enhance the capabilities of the police force for domestic peace and the rule of law, and that plans are being made to ensure that the police force becomes well-trained, free from corruption, and loved by the people. He also mentioned that high-quality police housing is being built to ensure that police officers can live comfortably and be ready 24 hours a day.
