Cambodia Accelerates Preparations for 3rd National Sanitation Forum, Ministry of Rural Development Holds Meeting
Cambodia's Ministry of Rural Development convened a meeting to review preparations for the 3rd National Sanitation Forum. Discussions focused on improving sanitation conditions in rural areas and advancing towards achieving Open Defecation Free (ODF) status across all 25 provinces.
Phnom Penh, September 9, 2026 (AKP) -- H.E. Chhay Rithysen, Minister of Rural Development, presided over a meeting to review the progress of preparations for the 3rd National Sanitation Forum on Wednesday afternoon, September 9, 2026, at the Ministry's headquarters. The meeting was attended by H.E. the Secretary of State, Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, leaders of the Ministry, as well as Mr. and Mrs. leaders of the relevant departments. The meeting meticulously reviewed and discussed various draft documents prepared by the ad hoc working group, and provided numerous important inputs that further enhanced the quality of the documents. In his directive remarks, H.E. the Minister emphasized that as the General Staff of the Royal Government, the Ministry of Rural Development has been actively fulfilling its role and making significant contributions to improving the living conditions of the people in rural areas by providing clean water supply services and promoting sanitation in rural areas, especially by pushing for the achievement of Open Defecation Free (ODF) status in all 25 provinces.
