No Filipinos Affected in Saudi Capital Attacks, DMW Urges Vigilance

THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Monday confirmed that no Filipinos have been affected after Saudi Arabia’s capital was attacked by Houthi militants on Sept. 18 and 19. In a press statement, the DMW urged the overseas Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia to follow the guidelines issued by Saudi authorities and to coordinate with Philippine agencies for assistance. Reuters on Saturday reported that the Iranian-backed Houthi militants have claimed the drone and ballistic missile attacks after smoke and flames had been spotted near Riyadh airport. The DMW said it is closely monitoring the situation of Filipinos in the area in coordination with the Migrant Workers Offices, Philippine Embassy, and Consulate in Saudi Arabia. — Kaela Patricia B.
