Vietnamese Ambassador Meets Diaspora in Phuket, Thailand

On the evening of July 8, the delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand, led by Ambassador Pham Viet Hung, held a meeting with the Vietnamese diaspora in Phuket. Attending the event were Mr. Ho Van Lam, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Thailand; Mr. Do Xuan Loc, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Bangkok and surrounding areas; representatives of the Vietnamese community from many provinces of Thailand; and nearly 100 expatriates in Phuket province. Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung expressed his joy over the stable life and development of the community in Phuket. He reviewed Vietnam's outstanding achievements in recent times and its development goals for the coming period. Ambassador Pham Viet Hung emphasized that Vietnam and Thailand will celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations in 2026. He noted that recent reciprocal visits by high-level leaders of the two countries affirm the importance both sides place on the Vietnam-Thailand relationship. He stated that this relationship serves as a foundation for the Vietnamese community in Thailand to live, study, and work, contributing positively to the development of their host country and their homeland, as well as to the relations between the two nations. In an interview with a resident correspondent of Nhan Dan Newspaper in Thailand, Ms. Do Thi Tan, Chairwoman of the Phuket Thai-Vietnamese Association, said that the association actively participates in activities honoring the homeland and the nation. They also regularly engage in common movements within Phuket province, such as organizing donation drives to support those facing hardship and calamities, or calling on expatriates to donate to purchase machinery and equipment for the provincial hospital. These efforts have been recognized by the local people and authorities. Ms. Do Thi Tan affirmed that the association maintains strong solidarity, always looks towards the homeland, and collectively preserves national identity. She expressed confidence that the expatriate community in Phuket will work together to build an increasingly strong community in all aspects. Phuket is one of Thailand's major provinces, and it is home to a Vietnamese community that has been doing business and living there for many years. They have always been united and supportive of each other in life and daily activities. In an interview with a resident correspondent of Nhan Dan Newspaper in Thailand, Mr. Nguyen Van Toan, Chairman of the Phuket Thai-Vietnamese Business Association, said that expatriates in general, and expatriate entrepreneurs in particular, in Phuket always unite and support each other in life. They always look towards their homeland and express a desire to strengthen connections with domestic businesses for mutual development. The meeting became even more jubilant and warm as the Vietnamese expatriates in Phuket joined hands to sing songs praising the beautiful country of Vietnam and the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Thailand. Earlier that afternoon, the delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand, led by Ambassador Pham Viet Hung, visited and presented gifts to several representative Vietnamese expatriate families in Phuket. Many families have lived and worked in Phuket for generations, establishing solid economic positions, building credibility, and making significant contributions to the development of Phuket province.
