Hanoi to Expedite Utilization of 29 Idle Properties

Hanoi is set to expedite the utilization and development of 29 idle properties that have emerged following the restructuring of government agencies. This initiative stems from the findings of an audit on property asset restructuring in Hanoi, conducted by the Central Inspection Committee. According to the committee's report, after the organizational restructuring effective March 1, 2025, Hanoi's departments and agencies will continue to operate from their existing headquarters, with no new idle properties expected to arise. While some office spaces will be exchanged, no irregularities such as unauthorized leasing, lending, joint ventures, or business collaborations were found at the audited facilities. However, the audit highlighted that 29 properties in the city remain idle and require prompt development and utilization to unlock their potential. Of these, 20 properties, representing 68.96%, are slated for immediate transfer to local authorities for temporary management and conversion of use in accordance with regulations. The audit results clearly assign responsibility to the Hanoi People's Committee, the Department of Finance, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Public Service Center, the People's Committees of various districts and communes, as well as other involved organizations and individuals. Under Vietnam's one-party system, the efficient management and utilization of public assets are crucial responsibilities for local governments, guided by directives from the central government. This measure is seen as part of Hanoi's broader efforts to promote urban development and administrative efficiency.
