A total of 32 members from the AA and PDF groups have returned to the legal fold, handing over weapons and ammunition. Among them were 20 AA members from Rakhine and Chin States, and 12 PDF members from Ayeyawady and Yangon Regions. They surrendered 13 assorted rifles, 6 grenades, and 456 rounds of ammunition. At a ceremony held on July 29 at the Southwest Command headquarters, Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw and Commander Maj-Gen Aung Kyaw Khine welcomed them. Rewards totaling 76.4 million kyats were granted including 5 million kyat per rifle, 300,000 kyat per person, and additional payments for grenades. The returnees signed pledges and were handed back to their families. The government stated that those wishing to rejoin the legal fold can contact nearby military or police units, where they will be accepted and supported.
