In his remarks, General Ye Win Oo highlighted the benefits of the trees and plantations and expressed his appreciation on strenuous efforts of the Tatmadaw families in environmental greening and conservation measures. Underscoring the major cause of air and environmental pollution, the General highlighted expanding forest cover as a key measure to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. He also emphasized on choosing the suitable species in accordance with the respective soil and climate condition along with consistent and systematic care. Elaborating on illegal logging prevention, the General outlined the value of teak wood which is considered as a treasure of nature in Myanmar. Next, the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Wife planted teak sapling at designated area. They then oversaw the trees planting activity of the attendees. Likewise, respective military commands across the nation held collective tree planting ceremonies harmoniously on the same day and a total of over 212,000 saplings were planted during the ceremonies.
