Vietnam Strengthens Sovereignty, Supports Development Through Diplomacy and Border Affairs

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van stated that Party, State, and people-to-people diplomacy are now tightly coordinated at the local level. With the support and coordination of local foreign affairs agencies, over 900 international agreements have been signed, renewed, or kept in force at the local level, and more than 2,500 international conferences and seminars have been licensed and staged in localities. Recent diplomatic activities demonstrate that the foreign policy outlined at the 14th National Party Congress is being translated into concrete action, reaffirming diplomacy as a "vital and regular" task alongside national defense and security. The resolution envisions enabling Vietnam's "heartbeat to resonate with that of the world, breathe in step with the spirit of the times, contribute to peace shaping, foster prosperity, and build a stronger and higher international standing for the country and nation." Building on the legacy of Vietnam’s revolutionary diplomacy, the country’s growing strength, and the combined efforts of the political system, Vietnam’s multilateral diplomacy is well-positioned for a decisive transition—from active participation to proactive contribution, from following international rules to helping shape them, and from consolidating Vietnam’s position to leveraging it for national development and safeguarding the Fatherland. This vision should inspire confidence in Vietnam’s future development trajectory through the swift move to translate the 14th National Party Congress vision into actionable policy directives. Furthermore, Vietnam views Overseas Vietnamese (OV) as a vital source of capital, knowledge, science and technology, management expertise, international networks, and influence. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue expanding the honorary consul network by identifying qualified candidates and providing them with updated information on Vietnam’s economic potential and investment opportunities, enabling them to make greater contributions to the country’s development in the new era. Vietnam attaches great importance to its relationship with New Zealand, welcoming the increasingly robust, substantive, and effective development of bilateral ties. In defense cooperation, Vietnam regards its relationship with Australia as a key pillar of bilateral ties. Domestically, the National Assembly Standing Committee is considering numerous items for the NA's deliberation and adoption, aiming to strengthen state power control, ensure the strict implementation of the Constitution and law, drive institutional reform, enhance national governance, and reinforce public confidence through its legislative function. The Ministry of Public Security has also noted cooperation with Leonardo S.p.A., an Italian high-tech industrial group, acknowledging its strengths in defense, security, aerospace, cybersecurity, and border surveillance.
