IKN Capital Authority Spokesperson Troy Pantouw Passes Away Amidst Preparations

Spokesperson for Indonesia's Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN), Troy Pantouw, has been reported to be busy preparing for the 81st Indonesian Independence Day (HUT RI) celebrations in IKN before his passing. This was revealed by the Secretary of the IKN Authority, Bimo Adi Nursanthyasto. Bimo stated that the IKN Authority is currently focusing on preparing various activities for the 81st HUT RI, which will be held in Nusantara in August 2026. "We are all focused on carrying out a series of activities in Nusantara in August," Bimo said at the funeral home of RSPAD Gatot Subroto, Jakarta, on Sunday (26/7). Troy was one of the individuals involved in the preparation of these activities. Bimo mentioned that he had been communicating frequently and intensively with Troy to discuss the preparations for the HUT RI celebration. Their last communication took place on Friday (24/7) afternoon. Bimo said that Troy was in good health and showed no complaints during their last communication. Romeo Matthew Pantouw, the son of the deceased, revealed that his late father was an inspiring figure. Romeo said that Troy not only understood communication theory but was also able to practice it on various occasions. According to him, Troy was a very inspiring figure, including in his educational journey as a postgraduate student of communication at the University of Indonesia (UI). "A very inspiring figure. I have personally collaborated with him on several projects, especially in communication. He not only understood the theory but was also an extraordinary communication practitioner," said Romeo at the funeral home of RSPAD Gatot Subroto, Jakarta, on Sunday (26/7). Romeo admitted to greatly admiring his father for his communication skills. According to him, these skills were not only applied in carrying out his duties at the OIKN but also in his family life. "I am very inspired by him. Not only by his theories, but he truly practiced his communication well, both within the OIKN and towards us, his family. We are very proud of him," said Romeo. Romeo also recalled Troy's attitude of never stopping learning and always striving to adapt to the times. Troy was also said to be adept at developing his network. At the same time, he remained a humble person. "So these are the fruits that I have truly learned. Not through his words, but through his actions throughout his life," said Romeo. Romeo revealed that his father had no history of serious illness. According to Romeo, the family had managed to pray together via conference call on the night before Troy passed away. Romeo then recounted the chronology of how the family learned of Troy's death. On Saturday (25/7) morning, Troy's driver was reportedly on standby to drive the deceased to an event in IKN. However, until around 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM WITA, Troy had not come out of his room, even though he was supposed to have come down to leave. "Finally, we made contact, our driver with my mother, with me as well, via video call," said Romeo. Attempts to contact Troy were unsuccessful. Firefighters were called to break down the room door after attempts to open it using a passcode also failed. Troy was found not breathing. He was rushed to Hermina Hospital in IKN. However, doctors pronounced Troy dead. Romeo admitted that he had not yet received detailed information regarding the cause of his father's death.
