Writer, Film-maker, Doctor Dr. Aung Min Passes Away Suddenly, Cremation Tomorrow

Writer, film-maker, and doctor Dr. Aung Min, aged 62, passed away suddenly on the night of September 6 due to a cerebral hemorrhage, according to sources from the literary community. The body of writer Dr. Aung Min will be transported to Yayway Cemetery and cremated on September 8. "I am saddened by the passing of my favorite writer. The cover of his last book, 'Fragmentary Diary,' was drawn by his wife. His wife is also a doctor and an artist. He is one of my favorite writers. He also made films," a news editor knowledgeable in literature told the Ayeyarwaddy Times. Dr. Aung Min wrote novels, interviewed painters, and penned articles on painting for monthly magazines until 2010. He began writing film scripts in 2007 and compiled and wrote "Contemporary Myanmar Art (1)" in 2010. Writer Aung Min's first literary work was the novella "Bad Night," serialized in Beauty Magazine, which was later published as a standalone book. Furthermore, in 2003, his second novella, "I Came to This Small Town on Duty," was serialized for a full year in Beauty Magazine and was published as a standalone book by Unity Publishing House in 2013. Additionally, the script for the feature film "The Monk" was written in 2013 after attending the European film development workshop MIDPOINT, and the film "The Monk" was first screened as the opening film at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2014. In 2015, he founded the TENMEN film group and produced and directed short films such as Hteedan Road, Khayar, Mawtin Jetty, Mrauk Oo Story, Fisherman Story, and Heartbroken Bird. In 2018, he completed the feature film "Man with the Beard." Until his passing, the doctor was still writing feature films such as "Yangon Midnight" and "Heartbroken Bird," and was also working as an art therapist at the "Aung" Clinic.
