"This time too, we had to start treatment one day earlier than the program was announced. Although it was announced that treatment would start on September 14, patients from afar came and waited from the 12th, so considering them, we started examinations on the 13th. Those who come for treatment are also in difficult circumstances, and we are working hard. We are satisfied if everything is convenient for everyone," said Sayadaw U Panyathiri of Theinpaw Mahamuni Monastery. Sitagu Shwe Kyar Dana Hospital in Theinpaw, northern Shan State, was opened in 2008 and has been performing eye surgeries every four months. It is known that patients who come for treatment come not only from areas within Shan State such as Theindaw, Kutkai, and Namhsan, but also from the plains regions such as Bagan-NyaungU, Yechaung, and Pauk. According to hospital records, over the 17 years from the 1st to the 57th session, Sitagu Shwe Kyar Dana Hospital in Theinpaw has examined a total of 39,518 eye patients and has been able to provide free surgery to 10,292 eye patients.
