Cambodia Detains 46 Foreigners in Online Scam Raids
Authorities in Cambodia's Pailin province have detained 46 foreigners in raids on two resorts suspected of involvement in online scams. The provincial administration is intensifying its crackdown on technology-related crimes in line with government directives.
In Pailin province, western Cambodia, a crackdown operation was conducted on two resorts suspected of involvement in online scams (Online Scam), leading to the detention of 46 foreigners. The targeted resorts are located in remote, mountainous areas in Toul Khiev village, Pailin district, and O'Ta Vao village, Pailin district, near Pailin city. Of the 46 foreigners detained, seven are women. Various items believed to have been used in criminal activities were also confiscated. The operation was carried out on the afternoon of July 30 under the direct command and order of Ms. Ban Sreymom, Governor of Pailin province and Head of the Provincial Unity Command. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, the Cambodian government is vigorously implementing policies against technology-related crimes, including online scams.
