Vietnam Culture Day Established, Fostering Revival of Traditional Culture

Under Resolution 80-NQ/TW, dated January 7, 2026, November 24 was designated Vietnam Culture Day, to be observed annually. The occasion aims to provide the public with opportunities to participate in, create, and enjoy cultural activities, thereby spreading positive values and fostering pride in Vietnamese culture. This designation is part of Vietnam's broader efforts to protect and promote traditional culture while adapting it to contemporary society amidst rapid social transformation driven by economic growth and globalization. The Vietnamese Communist Party, while prioritizing economic development under its one-party system, also recognizes the importance of preserving and passing down cultural and historical values as a foundation for national unity. Notably, cultural dissemination through digital spaces is gaining traction. Initiatives like ‘Ban Sac’ 2026 aim to revitalize Vietnamese cultural heritage within the modern digital realm, enhancing its appeal to younger generations. Furthermore, the establishment of new awards such as the ‘Vietnam Rong Xanh Awards’ encourages the creation of new cultural and heritage values. These developments stem from the understanding that sustainable national prosperity requires the spiritual enrichment and cultural identity of every citizen. Vietnam faces the challenge of embedding its cultural heritage, the core of its national identity, into modern society and transmitting it to future generations alongside economic advancement.
