2,000 Prawns Released into Pattaya Sea to Revive Coastal Ecosystem

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City and local partners released 2,000 banana prawns into the sea off Wongamat Beach in a bid to replenish marine life and help restore the coastal ecosystem. Suriyawat Rermkitjakan, assistant secretary to the Pattaya mayor, presided over the release, joined by members of the Wongamat Beach local fishing group, city officials and staff from Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya. The group took the prawns by boat before releasing them into the sea, with the activity aimed at increasing marine populations and restoring natural marine resources along Pattaya’s coastline. The initiative also brought together local fishermen, residents, government officials and the private sector, highlighting the role of the wider community in protecting Pattaya’s marine environment. Organizers said replenishing aquatic species is important for maintaining natural food sources and strengthening the health of coastal waters. The activity is also intended to raise public awareness of marine conservation and encourage greater participation in protecting local marine resources. The release forms part of broader efforts to preserve Pattaya’s coastal ecosystem and ensure that marine resources continue to benefit local communities and small-scale fishermen in the years ahead.
