Cambodia and Georgia Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Acting Head of State of Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Irakli Asashvili, at the Senate Hall in Phnom Penh on the afternoon of Thursday, the 6th day of the waxing moon of the month of Bhadrapada, in the eighth year of the Buddhist Era 2570, corresponding to September 17, 2026. During the meeting, Ambassador Irakli Asashvili presented his credentials to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who was acting on behalf of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni. Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed the appointment of Ambassador Asashvili and expressed his hope that the Ambassador's presence would contribute to further fostering and strengthening the friendly relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Georgia. Ambassador Asashvili expressed his gratitude to Samdech Techo Hun Sen for granting him the audience and the opportunity to present his credentials. He also conveyed his respect and admiration for Samdech Techo Hun Sen's leadership role and experience, which he had learned about through historical documents and media. The Ambassador affirmed his commitment to diligently work towards enhancing and deepening the relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Georgia, noting that the bilateral ties are experiencing remarkable progress. Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his satisfaction with the Ambassador's remarks, stating that despite the geographical distance between Cambodia and Georgia, both countries can still strengthen their relations and establish mutually beneficial cooperation. He encouraged the governments and relevant institutions of both nations to continue discussions and explore key potential areas for expanding cooperation and deepening Cambodia-Georgia relations. Samdech Techo Hun Sen recalled his past visit to Georgia and expressed his hope that the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries would continue to grow stronger and more prosperous.
