Cambodia Awards Certificates to 48 Students Completing Basic Computer Course

In Kampong Thom province, Cambodia, 48 students were awarded certificates upon completing a basic computer course in Tangkوك and Baray districts. The ceremony, held on August 3, 2026, was presided over by Dr. Thong Khon, Senior Minister in charge of special missions, and first vice-chairman of the Kampong Thom Provincial Party Working Group. Hong Sokoeun, manager of the Information Technology Vocational Training School in Baray district, reported that the school began its first computer course in 2009. A two-story building was constructed in 2018 with funding from French philanthropist Édouard George, president of Phoenix Voyages. As of 2026, the school has conducted 42 basic computer courses, training a total of 1,659 students. Dr. Thong Khon praised the instructors for teaching basic computer skills and incorporating digital literacy. He emphasized that these courses enhance students' computer proficiency, research abilities, and the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He urged students to have confidence in the government's efforts to resolve border issues with Thailand and called for unity among the people to protect the nation from foreign aggression and contribute to national development through self-reliance. He also stressed the importance of understanding Cambodian culture, traditions, literature, and history, fostering patriotism. Dr. Thong Khon highlighted the evolution of technology from the steam-powered Industrial Revolution 1.0 to the smart systems of Industry 4.0, noting the increasing role of AI. He expressed his intention to expand the vocational training in IT at Baray district by adding AI specializations, ensuring students can keep pace with the digital and AI eras. He stated that these advanced technologies are transforming work, professions, and lifestyles globally, including in Cambodia, and stressed the need to use them correctly for present and future benefit.
