Tropical Storm Maymay, internationally known as Kujira, is nearing Luzon, the northern island of the Philippines, prompting the raising of Storm Signal No. 2 in some areas. The state weather bureau reported that the storm was located 145 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, and is expected to make landfall over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, or La Union on Wednesday night or early Thursday. It may weaken into a tropical depression while crossing Northern and Central Luzon. In response, the government suspended work and classes in Metro Manila, Abra, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, and Zambales starting at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
