Rocket attacks in 4 locations within Lashio city, 1 person dead and 1 house destroyed

Yangon, July 9 Residents of Lashio city told Yangon Khit Thit Media that rocket attacks in four locations within Lashio city, northern Shan State, on July 9th resulted in one death and the damage of one house. It is known that rocket attacks and explosions occurred at 4:50 PM on July 9th in the No. 6 Ward, No. 10 Ward, near the military hospital, and within the university campus in Lashio city. Loud explosions were heard, and smoke plumes emerged. It was learned that due to the rocket attacks and explosions, one person was killed or injured in No. 10 Ward, and one residential house in No. 6 Ward was damaged. "As far as we know now, they say it landed in No. 6 Ward, No. 10 Ward, near the military hospital, and some say within the university, though this is not yet confirmed. One person was killed or injured in No. 10 Ward. Only one house was damaged in No. 6 Ward. We haven't heard of any other damage," a resident of Lashio city told Yangon Khit Thit Media. The MNDAA (Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army) captured Lashio city on August 3, 2024, but after negotiations with the military council mediated by China in Kunming, China, MNDAA troops were forced to withdraw from Lashio city on April 22, 2025. Since then, the military council's troops have re-controlled Lashio city, while MNDAA troops have controlled the outskirts and villages of the city.
