Cambodia's Auto Assembly Sector Grows with 15 Companies Supplying Domestic Market

According to the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Cambodia currently hosts 15 auto assembly companies. Of these, 10 are operating production lines, three are in the process of factory construction, and two have yet to commence building. The ten operational companies collectively possess the capacity to assemble approximately 35,000 vehicles per year, with a primary focus on supplying the domestic market. Among the active companies is BYD (CAMBODIA) CO., LTD., registered in 2025 and located in the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone. This company, with an investment of $31.93 million from China and Hong Kong, has a production capacity of over 10,000 units annually. By the first half of 2026, it had assembled 1,428 units, valued at a total of $29.96 million. CAMKO MOTOR CO., LTD., registered in 2024, is situated in the Neang Kok Special Economic Zone in Koh Kong province. It represents a $10 million investment from South Korea and has an annual production capacity of over 1,800 units. As of the first half of 2026, it had assembled a total of 3,249 units, amounting to $170.58 million. Other companies currently operating their assembly lines include CXD INDUSTRY CO., LTD., located in Phnom Penh, which assembles minibuses, sedans, SUVs, and trucks with an investment of $6.268 million from China and an annual capacity of over 2,000 units. DAEHAN AUTO (CAMBODIA) CO., LTD., in the Bavet SEZ, Svay Rieng province, has invested $15.85 million from South Korea and can produce over 1,800 units annually, offering a wide range of vehicle models. GTV MOTOR CO., LTD., based in Kandal province, has invested $15 million from China and boasts a significant annual capacity of over 6,000 units. HGB MOTORS ASSEMBLY CO., LTD., located in the Royal Group Poipet SEZ in Banteay Meanchey province, is a Cambodian-invested company with $7 million in capital and a capacity of over 7,000 units per year, assembling various KIA models. K (CAMBODIA) CO., LTD. in Kampong Speu province is focused on assembling ISUZU trucks, with a smaller workforce and a stated annual capacity. These companies import components and raw materials from countries including South Korea, Japan, and the United Kingdom, contributing to local employment and the nascent automotive industry in Cambodia.
