Thanh Hóa Police Officer Rescues Teenager from Drowning

In Thanh Hóa Province, Vietnam, a police officer swiftly rescued a teenager from a dangerous deep-water area on August 2nd, preventing a potential tragedy. The incident has prompted authorities to reiterate warnings about water safety, especially during the summer holidays. The incident occurred around 3:20 PM on August 2nd near the Bai Mường spillway in Vân Đội village, Thành Vinh commune. Đại úy Trương Văn Thiệp, Deputy Head of the Văn Phú Commune Police, heard calls for help from residents witnessing a drowning incident in the deep, hazardous water. Without hesitation, Đại úy Thiệp swam into the dangerous waters to reach the struggling teenager, Nguyễn Văn P., born in 2011, from Đồng Luật village, Thành Vinh commune. With the assistance of local residents, Thiệp was able to bring the boy to shore and administer proper first aid. The boy subsequently recovered his health. Following the rescue, the family of Nguyễn Văn P. sent a letter of gratitude to the Văn Phú Commune Police, expressing their deep emotion and appreciation for Đại úy Thiệp's dedicated and responsible actions. On August 4th, the Thanh Hóa Provincial Police issued a strong recommendation for parents to enhance supervision of their children during the summer vacation, emphasizing that children should not be allowed to swim, play, or go near deep or unsafe water bodies unsupervised.
