Cayetano siblings to be summoned in Senate probe on Taguig 'ghost' flood control projects

The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee is set to invite Senator Alan Peter Cayetano and his younger brother, former Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano (2019-2022), to its hearings concerning alleged "ghost" flood control projects in the city. According to Blue Ribbon Committee Chairperson Senator Erwin Tulfo, Lino Cayetano had sought an investigation into flood control projects in Taguig City totaling P6 billion, spanning from 2022 to 2025. "He should probably get ready for it because his own brother is asking for an investigation," Tulfo stated, referring to the elder Cayetano, implying that Alan Peter Cayetano would also need to address the probe. However, Alan Peter Cayetano has denied the existence of ghost flood control projects in Taguig. He has also challenged Tulfo and another critic, Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson, questioning their sources of wealth. The Blue Ribbon panel's investigation into the flood control controversy is scheduled to resume after the President's State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 27. This development highlights ongoing concerns in the Philippines regarding the integrity of public infrastructure projects and the proper utilization of public funds.
