Border Region Students Show Resilience with High Exam Pass Rates Despite War Trauma, Ministry Praises

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport has highly praised the resilience of students in border provinces who have overcome war experiences. The results of the high school exit examination (Secondary Education Diploma Examination) held on August 10, 2026, were announced on September 2, showing remarkable achievements, especially in border areas. Udor Mean Chey province recorded a high pass rate of approximately 89.44%, Preah Vihear province at 87.96%, and Banteay Meanchey province at 84.37%. These figures surpass the national average of 84.06% (125,975 successful candidates), demonstrating that students have achieved excellent results even under challenging circumstances. Nationwide, a total of 125,975 students passed the examination. Among the successful candidates, 2,022 received an 'A' grade, 8,848 received 'B', 23,422 received 'C', 44,869 received 'D', and 46,814 received 'E'. Following this announcement, Prime Minister Hun Manet and his wife, Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, announced 4,650 scholarships from the program established by former Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his wife, Samdech Kittipreah Bandhit. These scholarships are for undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students for the 2026-2027 academic year. Applications will be accepted starting from the date of notification, regardless of whether the applicants passed the examination. This initiative aims to expand educational opportunities and support students, particularly those from challenging regions. The Cambodian government is focusing on improving the educational standards of its citizens and nurturing future generations. The achievements of students in border areas suggest a strong motivation for education and the effectiveness of government support measures.
